Who We Are:
The Danville Area Association for the Arts & Humanities
was incorporated in February 1979 and its purpose is to encourage, promote, and sponsor cultural and educational activities associated with the arts and humanities in the Dan River region.

Arts & Humanities sponsors a Performing Arts Series each year with top rated performances by such noted artists as Marvin Hamlisch, Lynn Redgrave, Emile Pandolfi, The Lettermen, Jack Klugman, Monica Mancini,  Steve March, Torme, Moscow Ballet, Georgian State Dance Company, Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Glen Miller Orchestra,  and numerous musicals including Oklahoma, Gypsy, Evita, South Pacific, Copacabana, Anything Goes, A Christmas Carol, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Camelot.

We sponsor Master Classes where local students have an opportunity to learn from some of the world's  leading artists in drama, music and dance.

We also sponsor a Young People Series.  We present dramatic and musical productions gratis to the Danville Public Schools' Middle and High School students .

Our Performing Arts Series, co-sponsored by Danville Parks, Recreation & Tourism, is funded in part by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.   The Young People Series is funded, in part, by grants from the Morotock Arts & Cultural Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, the Womack Foundation, and Local Government Challenge Grant.
